The police professionals in North Bay Village continue to rightly focus efforts around community policing. Our officers work diligently to ensure good relationships with North Bay Village residents while simultaneously keeping our community safe. As is necessary, we must also revisit our policies to make sure we are always on the forefront of proper procedure and best practices. Public policy research has shown that more restrictive use of force policies can save lives. As we make strides towards accreditation, I encourage the Commission, City Manager and Police Chief to support and adopt the following proactive initiatives below as quickly as possible to reduce risk due to overuse of force.
